On Our Way (almost)

Our stuff is on our way to our destination. The truck will beat us there so it will be off loaded into storage while we wait for base housing to come available.

Can I admit that I'm starting to be a little excited about our move? I feel like a traitor saying that. I'll miss my friends so much. Saying that I'm excited about going makes me feel like I'm ignoring what I'm leaving behind. I'm not. But I am trying to focus on what is yet to come. A new assignment. A new part of the country. 6 hours from family. And I know that I'll keep in touch with my friends. They have meant so much to me. There is a large part of me that would love to come back here. I've told my friends that I have people praying that we'll move to their area after hubby gets out of the AF. So we'll just see who is the most spiritual by where we end up moving to :-)

Most of my more "natural" living goes out the window when it comes to moving. I use high powered chemicals to clean, disposable diapers on the baby, and I cook whatever is quick and simple. I tried to come up with ways to avoid frozen dinners but I don't think I was very successful. Any ideas? I'm hoping not to get sick this time while moving like I did last time. When we moved a year and a half ago I was pregnant and all those instant meals made me sick. So hopefully that won't happen this time.

I'm off to bed! We bought an air mattress to sleep on so it should be more comfortable than the floor anyway!

Ohhhh... I know what you mean about instant meals. Yuck! I like your new blog! I'm a bit puzzled by 'crunchy'... Oh and I wanted to tell you that your blog still has your old email address... I know because I commented on your other blog and clicked email me follow up comments and it had a failed delivery to your address.

We've got our road trip diet down to a science by now.

We pack a cooler with at least one gallon of milk, ham or turkey, cheese, condiments for sandwiches, PB&J, apples, 100% juice, sodas (for Levi), & water bottles.

We also pack a box with bread, Cheerios, disposable utensils, a knife for cutting up fruit & cheese, a small cutting board, crackers, trail mix, jerky, & a batch of Chex muddy buddies. (Our snacky stuff & "sides" for lunches.)

We eat lunch on the road at rest stops (s/w & a snack), and eat dinner at either Subway or Wendy's if we can find them, because they have fresher options than most places. We also restock anything we run out of at a Wal-Mart if we can.

And...the biggest one...stay at a nice hotel. We like Holiday Inn Express, because their prices are pretty decent, their mattresses & showers are phenomenal, & the continental breakfast is outstanding. Out.Stand.Ing.

I hope that helps. :-) It takes a little more cargo space & time to do it this way, but it's heaps cheaper & you'll feel better physically. And the muddy buddies are GREAT behaviour incentives between meals!

Oh yeah...one more thing...we wash sippy cups, the cutting board & knife in the sink at the hotel. So pack a little Dawn or something.
